I really wanted to paint Khaslana ever since his reveal 🥺 This version of Phainon is so angelic and divine; it is reminiscent of a FF final boss design. 🥹 Though instead of the epic and heroic, I wanted to focus on the somber and quiet - a worldbearing solitude, the weight carried upon his whole being. The fate of multitudes of lifetimes, hanging in the balance like a single speck of dust in the vast galaxy. 😭
I started this in July and it has been simmering since then, every so often I will chip away at it and finally I am happy with how it is! It really was a "trust the process" kind of painting! ☺️ I opted to change his wings into a more angelic style compared to his normal design, as I wanted him to feel more fragile and 'human'.
